Help Zoe stop Jessica from ruining her life!
In honor of Mother's Day, the episode begins with a free short story from the perspective of Cathy DeGeest. Early in the morning, she rocks her crying daughter Kara to sleep. Just as Kara falls asleep, Horace enters the room to wish her a happy Mother's Day, awakening Kara. He apologizes and offers to take care of Kara while she enjoys the breakfast prepared by Kay and Kel, alerting Cathy, as the breakfast typically ends disastrously. Despite arriving before the twins begun cooking, Cathy subsequently apologizes to the police and neighbors for Kay and Kel blowing up the neighbors' grill.
As the girls get dressed for school, Cathy puts the kitchen utensils back their original places, when Howard walks in. He informs her that his interview with the recruiter from Kingston University is today and requests for her aid in deciding what to wear. She helps him choose a black bow tie and assures him that his interview will go well. He wishes her a happy Mother's Day, just as the fire alarm goes off. Cathy runs downstairs to find two pans on the stove top on fire, courtesy of Horace, who tries to make her breakfast.
Later that day, at the Parent-Teacher association meeting to discuss the budget. The parents voice their concerns regarding spending their whole budget to facilitate the Spartan Games. Principal Shapiro takes responsibility and the parents proceed to discuss the fault underneath the school that caused the earthquake. After the meeting, Cathy finds Zoe sitting on the curb, crying. She confides Cathy in her dolefulness about Howard leaving for college. Cathy comforts her, telling her that they love Howard and want the best for him.
As the day comes to an end, Cathy arrives home, exhausted. In the dining room, she finds an elegant dinner set up with candles and a large bouquet of flowers, prepared by Horace and the kids. The kids tell her they love her and they have dinner.
